Chance 2 Mental Wellness Expands Regional Collaboration to Liberia

On March 10, 2026, Mrs. Janet Symister Beckford, Founder and CEO of Chance 2 Mental Wellness and Recovery Hub Ghana Foundation (also known as Chance2 Mental Wellness), visited key mental health and innovation institutions in Liberia, including the University Innovation Pod (UniPOD) at the University of Liberia and the E.S. Grant Mental Health Hospital in Monrovia.

During the visit, Mrs. Beckford engaged with local stakeholders to advance mental health care, recovery support, and community wellness initiatives. These engagements culminated in the establishment of a working relationship between Chance 2 Mental Wellness and Recovery Hub and Liberian partner, Syntra Innovation and Technology Initiatives.

As a direct outcome, a Chance 2 team was established in Liberia to support ongoing collaboration. The first phase will include online mental health training, with additional initiatives to be implemented over time in alignment with the shared mandates of both organizations. These efforts are aimed at addressing critical mental health challenges and improving access to care.

This collaboration seeks to strengthen mental health infrastructure, build local capacity, and expand accessible support for individuals experiencing mental illness, substance use disorders, and related challenges. It also complements the vital work of institutions such as E.S. Grant Mental Health Hospital, Liberia’s primary psychiatric referral facility.

Overall, this initiative marks a significant step toward sustainable, community-driven mental health solutions across the region.
